Gene Zesch Carvings
The Commercial Bank, Mason, Texas
| |
|
Born
in the Hill Country on a ranch in Mason County, Texas, Gene Zesch
has first-hand knowledge of the struggle of ranchers and cowpokes in
scratching out an existence in that cactus and mesquite covered
land. He learned to carve while a pilot in the Air Corps, and after
years of self-training, became good enough to make it his profession
as a successful artist. |

|
Humor is the panacea for all misfortunes in that rough country, and
Gene makes this his principal theme whenever possible. You can’t
look at his carvings without getting a good belly laugh.
Presidents, governors, and senators own examples of Gene’s work. He
is the Will Rogers of woodcarvers. His carvings are displayed at
galleries in Scottsdale, Jackson Hole, and Santa Fe.
You may view many carvings of his on display during business hours
at The Commercial Bank located at 100 Moody Street. |
